Under 8 is the second year of 5-a-side football. Children already know the game, so sessions ask more of them: a better first touch, quicker passes and braver one-on-ones.
Coaches work on one skill at a time, then put it straight into a game. A typical evening is a warm-up, a skill block and small-sided matches to finish.
Goalkeepers start to get their own attention at this age, with handling and positioning practice alongside the outfield work.
